What Are Wisdom Teeth and Where Are They Located?

Wisdom teeth are the third molars, typically erupting between the ages of 18 and 25, although they can emerge later or not at all. They grow in both the upper and lower jaws, with most people having four. The main cause of problems with wisdom teeth is the lack of space for growth. Most people’s jaws simply don’t have enough room for all 32 teeth. Since wisdom teeth often do not have enough space to emerge straight and properly, they grow in crooked or partially. Crooked teeth can damage the enamel of surrounding teeth, and due to their misalignment, it is difficult to clean between them properly. Partially erupted wisdom teeth may be partially covered by gum tissue, under which bacteria can accumulate.

When Should Wisdom Teeth Be Removed?

First of all, we advise not to delay. It is easiest to remove a tooth when its roots are not fully formed. Once wisdom teeth are fully developed, the procedure becomes more complex, and recovery time after surgery is longer. If the teeth pose a threat to neighboring teeth or cause inflammation due to their improper position, they should be removed.

How to Care After Tooth Extraction?

For 3-4 hours after tooth extraction, avoid eating. Later that day, avoid hot food and drinks. Do not touch the wound with your fingers or tongue. Avoid physical exertion.

Possible Complications

After wisdom tooth extraction, you may experience pain and bleeding at the operated site. This is a natural post-operative condition.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • 01

Is it dangerous to extract a tooth?

Tooth extraction is safe if performed correctly. Proper preparation for the procedure and thorough cleaning of the tissues after the tooth is removed are crucial. It is especially important to avoid traumatizing the surrounding tissues during the extraction and to ensure the area is cleaned properly afterward. When these steps are followed correctly, the tissues will regenerate naturally. An improperly performed extraction can result in a defect in the jawbone, potentially causing problems in the future.

  • 02

Can a pregnant woman have a tooth extracted?

We recommend visiting the dentist before planning a pregnancy. Tooth extraction during pregnancy is not advised and is only performed in exceptional cases.

  • 03

When should wisdom teeth be removed?

    • When wisdom teeth are non-functional (not involved in chewing) and severely affected by decay, pulpitis, or periodontitis.
    • When root structure or poor access makes quality endodontic treatment impossible.
    • When partially erupted wisdom teeth cause recurrent soft tissue inflammation (pericoronitis).
    • When impacted wisdom teeth could damage adjacent tooth roots or cause teeth crowding.
    • When misaligned wisdom teeth injure the cheek lining during chewing.
    • To reduce the likelihood of cyst formation around an impacted tooth or to remove a tooth with an already formed cyst.
    • Wisdom teeth removal is recommended before starting orthodontic treatment with braces or clear aligners.

  • 04

Is it necessary to replace an extracted tooth?

It is recommended to replace an extracted tooth to reduce wear on other teeth, which bear more pressure during chewing. This also helps to prevent bite misalignment and to stop jawbone deterioration.

  • 05

Is preventive care necessary, and what are its benefits?

Preventive dental visits for both children and adults are recommended every 6-12 months. Regular checkups allow for the prevention of tooth decay, avoiding the need for expensive treatments by addressing issues sooner.

Oral and Dental Surgery

Our clinic offers a variety of oral and dental surgeries to address both medical and aesthetic concerns.

Starting from

60€

Gingivectomy

This procedure involves the removal of a portion of the gums for either medical treatment or aesthetic purposes.

Flap Surgery

Flap surgery is a surgical method used to treat periodontitis. During the procedure, a layer of the gums is lifted to clean the inflamed tissues, remove subgingival tartar, and reshape the bone and gums to eliminate deep pockets. Post-surgery, personal oral hygiene and regular professional cleanings are crucial.

Clinical Crown Lengthening

This surgical procedure is typically performed to expose more of the tooth’s healthy tissue above the gumline, often for better prosthetics. The gum contour is reshaped, allowing the tooth’s crown to cover more healthy tissue and restoring a natural gum appearance.

Soft Tissue Grafting

This surgical procedure involves grafting gum tissue where it is lacking. It is used to address gum recession (exposed tooth necks or roots) or to enhance the aesthetic appearance around dental prosthetics or implants. The grafted tissue may be taken from nearby areas or the palate, and artificial soft tissue substitutes can also be used.

Cyst Removal

This surgical procedure removes a cyst that has formed in the bone or soft tissues, often filled with fluid or pus. As the cyst grows, it can damage surrounding tissues. Initially, cysts may be asymptomatic but can later cause bone deformities, swelling, or small holes in the gums that release pus. Cysts are often discovered incidentally through X-rays taken for other reasons.

Removal of Impacted Teeth

Impacted teeth are fully developed teeth that cannot erupt properly due to various reasons, such as a lack of space in the dental arch or early removal of primary teeth. Fully impacted teeth (not visible in the oral cavity) that cause no issues may be left untreated. However, impacted teeth can lead to complications like cysts, tumors, or crowding of other teeth. During a consultation, a doctor will determine if removal of the impacted teeth is necessary.

Tooth Extraction

We perform atraumatic tooth extraction, a procedure that removes teeth in a way that doesn’t damage the tissue and bone around the tooth being extracted. We offer immediate replacement of the extracted tooth with a dental implant. This reduces the number of visits to the doctor, reduces stress, provides a single pain relief, has only one post-operative period and achieves significantly better results compared to a later implant.

When Is Periodontal Treatment Necessary?

The periodontium, also known as the supporting tissues of the tooth, consists of the gums, ligaments that hold the tooth, dental cementum, and alveolar bone. Periodontal diseases can affect all of these tissues.

Signs of Periodontal Disease:

  • Red, swollen gums
  • Sensitivity to cold, heat, or food
  • Bleeding gums
  • Bad breath
  • Pus in the gums
  • Teeth appear longer (exposed roots)
  • Changes in tooth position
  • Loose or wobbly teeth

Starting from

65€

Why Should You Consult a Doctor as Soon as Possible?

If left untreated, periodontal diseases can lead to severe complications, including tooth loss. Therefore, it’s crucial to see a doctor at the first signs of periodontal disease.

The initial stage of periodontal disease is gingivitis. Symptoms include bleeding gums and bad breath. Gingivitis can be fully treated if addressed in time. However, if left untreated, the disease progresses to gum recession, exposing the tooth’s root and neck, causing constant sensitivity. Gingivitis can evolve into a serious infection called periodontitis, affecting not only the gums but also the hard tissues and bone around the tooth. Eventually, the jawbone deteriorates, leading to tooth loss.

To prevent these complications, it’s important to consult a doctor as soon as the first symptoms of periodontal disease appear.

Why Do Periodontal Diseases Occur?

Periodontal diseases develop when plaque on the teeth hardens into tartar, damaging the surrounding tissues. Plaque contains various bacteria that cause inflammation.

It is a common misconception that poor oral hygiene is the sole cause of periodontal diseases. While oral hygiene habits are critical, several other factors contribute to the development of these diseases, such as:

  • Hormonal changes (due to pregnancy, menopause, stress)
  • Various diseases (immune disorders, blood diseases, etc.)
  • Genetic predisposition to periodontal diseases
  • Misaligned bite
  • Untreated tooth decay
  • Poor-quality fillings
  • Smoking
  • Nutritional deficiencies

Treatment and Prevention of Periodontal Diseases

Mild periodontal damage can be treated by undergoing professional dental cleanings twice a year and maintaining proper oral hygiene at home. More severe periodontal diseases are treated surgically. The procedure is performed under anesthesia, making it relatively comfortable for the patient. During the treatment, tartar beneath the gums and inflamed tissues are removed.

For the prevention of periodontal diseases, it is essential to maintain proper dental care:

  • Brush your teeth twice a day, use dental floss, interdental brushes, or/and an irrigator.
  • Have professional dental cleanings at least twice a year.
  • Adjust your lifestyle by eliminating harmful habits (e.g., smoking), eating a healthy diet, and reducing stress.

Teeth Whitening and Trays - What Is It?

Teeth whitening is a procedure that lightens teeth, removes stains, and provides a uniform color. Teeth whitening may be performed before dental prosthetics to ensure the color of natural teeth matches the prosthetics. Typically, whitening is done by a dentist or dental hygienist. In the clinic, teeth can be whitened with special materials or advanced Philips ZOOM technology, while at-home whitening can be done with trays. During an in-office whitening procedure, teeth are covered with a whitening agent activated by a specialized system. Whitening with trays at home is often recommended as a follow-up to maintain whiteness after a professional procedure.

Starting from

180€

Teeth Whitening Methods

Teeth Whitening with Philips ZOOM System

The advanced Philips ZOOM whitening system is one of the safest and most effective procedures, with its efficiency proven by scientific studies. This method provides teeth with a bright, even color while preserving the tooth’s structure. The procedure does not damage the enamel or cause demineralization (enamel breakdown). For this reason, teeth remain healthy and strong. Additionally, this procedure not only avoids harm but also promotes healing—the whitening gel contains calcium ions that strengthen teeth, fill microscopic surface defects, smooth the enamel, add shine, and reduce sensitivity.
Using this method, a whitening gel is applied to the teeth and activated by the ZOOM lamp. The entire procedure takes just over an hour. With Philips ZOOM, teeth can be whitened by up to eight shades.

In-Office Teeth Whitening

In in-office whitening, the gums are covered with a special protective material, and a high-quality whitening gel is applied to the teeth. The gel reaches the deeper layers of the teeth and lightens them. At the end of the procedure, the teeth are coated with a desensitizing gel to prevent discomfort. Teeth may be slightly sensitive after the procedure, but this usually subsides in a few days. This method can whiten teeth by several shades, depending on the tooth’s structure and other factors. In-office whitening takes up to 1 hour, making it a quick procedure with immediate results.

Teeth Whitening with Trays at Home

This is a simple and effective method for whitening teeth at home. First, impressions of the patient’s upper and lower jaws are taken at the dentist’s office. Custom-made trays are then created and provided at the next visit along with whitening gel and detailed instructions for use.
For first-time whitening with trays, it’s recommended to wear them daily for about two weeks, 1.5–3 hours per day. The dentist will show the patient how to use the gel and recommend additional products if the teeth become sensitive.
At home, the clear trays are filled with whitening gel and placed over the teeth. The trays are transparent and almost unnoticeable, allowing the patient to smile and interact confidently. The whitening results are visible after just two weeks!

What Should You Know Before the Whitening Procedure?

Before the teeth whitening procedure, it’s essential to consult with a dentist. The dentist will check if some teeth need to be treated or if a professional cleaning is necessary before whitening. Additionally, the dentist will advise on the safest and most effective whitening procedure for the patient.

Production of Protective and Sports Mouthguards

Mouth protection from injuries is crucial in many situations, whether children are playing outside or athletes are training. At CLINIC | DPC, we use a technology that can create custom-made protective mouthguards based on individual dental impressions. What is aesthetic filling?

Aesthetic filling is the restoration of the function and aesthetics of the front teeth using filling materials. The filling usually covers the entire front surface of the tooth. This procedure can restore proper bite, improve tooth color, and correct their shape. Depending on the damage and position of the tooth before filling, the teeth are minimally ground or the enamel surface is slightly roughened. Grinding can help visually straighten a protruding or crooked tooth.

Starting from

290€

When is aesthetic filling recommended?

Aesthetic filling is used to remove pigment spots, give teeth a beautiful color and shape, or slightly correct their position. This treatment method can also be recommended after endodontic treatment, in case of tooth trauma, with a lowered bite, or when old fillings are replaced with new ones. It is important that there is enough tooth tissue left to fill. If the tooth is decayed, a crown is needed instead of an aesthetic filling.

How to prepare for aesthetic filling?

Before the aesthetic filling procedure, professional oral hygiene must be performed. If teeth whitening is planned, it must be done before the aesthetic filling. When whitening teeth, the color of the fillings does not change, so the color of the old fillings may differ from the whitened teeth.

How do I take care of my teeth after a cosmetic filling?

After the aesthetic filling procedure, avoid various staining products such as black tea, coffee, red wine, beets, etc. It is also recommended not to use whitening pastes, as the abrasive particles in them can damage the fillings.

Advantages of aesthetic filling

Usually, one visit is enough to restore the aesthetics and function of the teeth.

Lower cost compared to prosthetics.

Teeth are given a proper shape and bite is improved.

The color of the teeth is beautified and unified.

The procedure is simple, safe, and suitable for patients of any age.

The result looks very natural.

The procedure does not cause unpleasant sensations.

What is professional oral hygiene?

Professional oral hygiene is a procedure in which a dental hygienist removes soft and hard dental plaque using specialized instruments in their office. Plaque is a common cause of gum inflammation, unnoticed tooth decay, periodontitis (also known as periodontal disease), and early tooth loss. Therefore, it is crucial to have it removed in a timely manner.

Starting from

63€

Dental and gum diseases caused by poor oral hygiene

The primary cause of dental and gum diseases is inadequate personal oral hygiene. Diseases resulting from poor oral hygiene can be prevented by regularly visiting a dentist for check-ups and a dental hygienist for professional cleaning. The hygienist not only performs the cleaning but also selects appropriate home care products for dental maintenance. Other factors contributing to disease development include improper chewing, frequent consumption of soft foods, and a lack of salt in the diet.

When is professional oral hygiene recommended?

Professional oral hygiene is recommended twice a year. Patients with implants or fixed non-removable prostheses should visit for professional cleaning every 6 months. Patients wearing braces should have professional cleaning every 4 months or as recommended by the dental hygienist.

Professional oral hygiene is always performed before aesthetic fillings, permanent prosthetic work, and surgical interventions.

“Air-Flow” Method for Oral Hygiene

The “Air-Flow” method uses a strong stream of air, water, and medical-grade calcium carbonate powder to quickly and painlessly remove accumulated dental plaque. This method does not damage the hard tooth tissues or gums as the tooth surface is treated from a distance.

Dental Calculus Removal

Removal of mineralized plaque using ultrasonic scalers and manual instruments. All tooth and filling surfaces are polished with paste. Soft and pigmented plaque is removed using air abrasion with calcium carbonate powder (commonly known as baking soda).

What is orthodontic treatment with aligners?

Aligner treatment is a modern, comfortable, and effective solution for straightening teeth. The aligners are nearly invisible removable orthodontic devices made from soft, transparent medical-grade plastic. They are designed to straighten teeth and correct misaligned bites efficiently, comfortably, and painlessly. By gently applying pressure, the aligners push the teeth into a predetermined desired position. To ensure that the teeth continually move towards the goal, patients need to change the aligners for new ones, typically every two weeks.

Starting from

1700€

When is orthodontic treatment applied?

Orthodontic treatment is used when a patient has crooked teeth, a bad bite, or large gaps between teeth. Orthodontic treatment is not only for aesthetic purposes; in some cases, it helps restore impaired speech, swallowing, and chewing functions and prevents future issues.

Advantages of aligners:

Aligners are barely noticeable, making them a discreet option for adults.

They do not cause pain, irritate the gums, or scratch the cheeks and lips.

Treatment with aligners is often quicker and requires fewer visits to the dentist.

Patients can remove aligners when needed, for example, on special occasions.

People wearing aligners do not have to change their daily habits. They can eat their favorite foods and continue with regular sports activities.

Aligners do not complicate overall oral hygiene.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • 01

How long does orthodontic treatment with aligners take?

Each treatment case is unique and depends on your current dental and bite situation. During the visit, the doctor will assess how long your treatment will take while following the appropriate treatment guidelines. Typically, patients wear aligners for 8 to 20 months.

  • 02

Who is aligner treatment suitable for?

There are no age limits for aligner treatment. Both adults and young individuals with fully erupted permanent teeth can enjoy a healthy and beautiful smile.

  • 03

Is aligner treatment more expensive than braces?

Due to different pricing structures, aligner treatment may seem more expensive than braces, but this is not necessarily true. With braces, you usually only pay for the initial application, and all follow-up visits and brace removal will cost extra. Therefore, you can only calculate the final cost of braces treatment after completing the treatment. With aligners, it is common to pay the full amount upfront, as the doctor can accurately predict the course, duration, and cost of aligner treatment.

  • 04

Is orthognathic treatment possible while wearing aligners?

Treatment is possible, but an individual evaluation of the situation is necessary. Otherwise, orthognathic treatment with dental braces is recommended.

Orthodontic Treatment Methods with Braces

The most common method of straightening teeth is braces. It is considered to be one of the most effective methods of straightening teeth, as braces can be chosen even in very difficult cases where the bite cannot be corrected with plates or caps. Braces can be prescribed for both children and adults, and the duration of treatment is usually 1.5-2 years. Nowadays, the choice of braces is quite wide and patients may find it difficult to decide. Braces are divided into metal braces and ceramic braces, which are further subdivided into ligature and be-ligature braces.

Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces are the most popular choice among patients. They are made of stainless steel, durable, and effectively perform their function. They are somewhat cheaper than more aesthetic ceramic braces. Although metal braces have significantly improved from their predecessors, they are still visible when smiling, so not everyone opts for this treatment. Traditional braces usually require adjustment by an orthodontist about once a month.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are less noticeable and look more aesthetic compared to traditional metal braces. Both the ceramic braces and the connecting wire are made from a tooth-colored, translucent porcelain, making them less noticeable at first glance. They are often chosen by those who find metal braces visually unappealing. Ceramic braces also require adjustment by an orthodontist approximately once a month.

Braces Care

When wearing braces, dental care should be even more meticulous and careful. Remember to brush your teeth in the morning and evening with special brushes and floss, rinse your mouth with mouthwash after every meal, avoid hard and sticky foods, do not postpone your regular visits to the doctor to have your arches replaced or activated (otherwise you will prolong the duration of your treatment), and see your oral hygienist regularly.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • 01

Why is it necessary to correct a misaligned bite?

When teeth are misaligned, the natural self-cleaning of the teeth is disrupted, leading to plaque buildup. This, in turn, causes inflammation of the periodontal tissues and promotes the development of tooth decay.

  • 02

Why does a bad bite develop?

The formation of a bad bite can be influenced by heredity, genetics, improper dental care, and other factors. Causes of improper bite formation include: Poor care of baby teeth, Childhood habits of sucking something for comfort (e.g., thumb-sucking) or prolonged use of pacifiers, Irregular breathing or mouth breathing (e.g., due to frequent colds or respiratory illnesses in childhood), Lack of timely dental prosthetics in cases of early tooth loss or extraction. In such cases, other teeth shift position, causing bite misalignment. Teeth grinding (bruxism), often caused by stress, tension, or other reasons. Teeth wear down, and the bite deepens and worsens.

  • 03

How long does orthodontic treatment last?

The duration and methods of treatment are usually determined during a consultation. Orthodontic treatment can last from 4 months to 3 years or even longer. The duration depends on the position of the teeth in the dental arch and the relationship between the upper and lower jaw teeth.

  • 04

How often should I visit the orthodontist when wearing braces?

To ensure smooth treatment with braces and achieve the best results, it is necessary to visit the orthodontist for check-ups and adjustments every 7-8 weeks.

  • 05

Do teeth hurt when wearing braces?

This is a rare occurrence. Most often, teeth feel sensitive for a few days after the braces are applied.

What is Therapeutic Treatment?

Therapeutic Dental Treatment encompasses all methods aimed at the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of dental and oral cavity diseases, maintaining both the functionality and aesthetics of the teeth. It is one of the most essential areas of dentistry, ensuring that teeth remain healthy, preserved, and the overall condition of the mouth is at its best. Therapeutic treatment covers both superficial and deeper tooth damage, while also aiming to prevent more serious complications that could lead to tooth loss or other health issues.

Starting from

60€

Prevention of Dental and Oral Diseases

At CLINIC | DPC, special attention is given to preventive measures to stop the development of dental and oral diseases. Therefore, we recommend that every patient visit the dentist twice a year for a preventive check-up. This allows the dentist to evaluate the condition of your teeth and oral cavity and, if necessary, to prescribe appropriate preventive measures or early treatment.

Caries Treatment

Caries is one of the most common diseases, caused by the interaction of acids and microorganisms found in dental plaque. This process leads to the demineralization of the hard dental tissues and the formation of a caries cavity. When detected in time, caries is cleaned out to the healthy dental tissues and filled.

Replacement of Old, Poor-Quality Fillings

Patients often wonder why an old filling needs to be replaced even though it hasn’t fallen out. The simple answer is that older fillings tend to shrink over time, creating microscopic gaps between the tooth and the filling surface. Bacteria can easily infiltrate these gaps, food residues accumulate, and an acidic environment forms, causing the tooth to decay (leading to secondary caries). The walls of the tooth weaken, and eventually, the tooth may crack or break. Modern fillings have minimal shrinkage and, when properly placed, virtually eliminate the risk of secondary caries. Moreover, they are highly aesthetic, strong, and durable.

Aesthetic Filling of Front and Molar Teeth

Aesthetic fillings are a great way to enhance the appearance of your teeth through a conservative treatment method. This restoration technique allows for the preservation of dental tissues while restoring the tooth’s anatomical shape and achieving a natural, healthy tooth color, transparency, and shine. Aesthetic fillings are recommended for teeth affected by caries, teeth that have changed color, worn-down teeth, improperly erupted teeth, the closure of diastema (gaps between teeth), and the restoration of teeth after trauma. When a tooth is severely damaged, the chewing surface’s relief is restored, considering both function and aesthetics. Cusps and grooves are restored, which are crucial for chewing efficiency, maintaining bite height, and protecting teeth from wear. These restorations are made with high-quality fillings that match natural, healthy teeth in shade and transparency.

Restoration of Chipped Teeth

With modern filling materials, due to their aesthetic qualities, strength, and durable bonding systems, it is possible to restore a chipped tooth seamlessly, ensuring that the restoration lasts for many years. Based on the extent of the chip, your treating doctor will recommend the most appropriate method for restoring your tooth.

Treatment of Tooth Sensitivity

Many patients report experiencing tooth sensitivity, discomfort while eating or drinking cold beverages, or simply inhaling air through the mouth. Once the cause of sensitivity is identified, it is easy to select the right treatment. This may include using fluoride rinses, fluoride varnish or gel applications, filling exposed tooth necks, and other methods.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • 01

Why is it necessary to replace old fillings?

The answer is very simple – over time, microscopic gaps appear in old fillings that are invisible to the naked eye, where bacteria accumulate, causing tooth decay. To prevent this, we replace old fillings with new ones! Visit your dentist, who will assess and inform you whether your fillings are worn out, cracked, and need adjustment or replacement.

What is orthognathic jaw surgery?

This treatment corrects malocclusion (incorrect bite) by combining orthodontic and surgical treatments to restore the correct position of one or both jaws. It requires preparatory orthodontic treatment with braces or aligners for about 1.5 to 2 years. Afterward, an orthognathic jaw surgery is performed. The treatment is carried out by a maxillofacial surgeon in close cooperation with an orthodontist. This method allows for the complete restoration of the correct shape, size, position of one or both jaws, dental arches alignment, and the full restoration of the affected functions. The total duration of the orthognathic treatment is approximately 2 to 3 years.

Starting from

8000€

Why should a malocclusion be treated?

  • Malocclusion increases the risk of dental caries.
  • It can cause temporomandibular joint disorders (pain, clicking, limited mouth opening).
  • Orthodontic treatment alone cannot correct severe malocclusion.
  • Premature wear or damage to teeth might require restorative treatments.
  • Unsatisfactory facial features may affect emotional and psychological well-being.
  • Impaired chewing function can lead to digestive problems.
  • Malocclusion is linked to breathing issues, such as snoring or sleep apnea, and increases the risk of hypertension and diabetes.

What is the result of orthognathic treatment?

Orthognathic treatment restores the correct position and bite of one or both jaws, thus fixing the affected chewing function and resolving other issues related to malocclusion. Adjusting the position of the jaws also changes facial features, which can significantly boost a patient’s confidence.

Who can undergo orthognathic surgery?

This treatment can be applied to patients over the age of 18, as the jaw must be fully developed for the surgery. Preparatory orthodontic treatment may begin before the age of 18.

Stages of Treatment:

Diagnostic tests

After an orthodontist consultation, special tests such as a jaw CT scan, lateral cephalogram, protocol photos, and diagnostic dental models are required for evaluation.

Consultation

Based on these tests, the maxillofacial surgeon discusses the patient’s condition, evaluates the jaws and bite, explores possible treatment options, and answers any questions.

Treatment plan creation and presentation

An individual treatment plan is prepared and presented by the maxillofacial surgeon (either in person or remotely). The patient is informed about the course of treatment, duration, costs, and expected results.

Orthodontic preparatory treatment

Wearing braces or aligners, the orthodontic preparatory treatment lasts for 1.5 to 2 years.

Orthognathic jaw surgery

Before surgery, thorough 3D planning is performed, including the production of special instruments and preparatory exams. Patients receive detailed information about the process.

Post-operative orthodontic treatment

Three to four months after the surgery, the orthodontic treatment continues for another 6 to 12 months.

What is the “Icon” system?

The “Icon” system, developed by German manufacturers “DMG Dental,” was originally designed to treat interdental caries. Later, it was used to treat tooth tissue damage on the labial surfaces of teeth and to remove stains caused by various factors. Today, it is the most advanced method for treating minor enamel damage. This system is called micro-invasive because it does not require drilling or filling teeth. Research shows that treatment with the “Icon” system is 89% more effective than fluoride therapy!

Starting from

90€

Is it possible to cure caries without pain?

By detecting the early stages of caries in time, a tooth can be treated, and further problems prevented. With the “Icon” system, the damaged enamel is restored without drilling or filling. The tooth is impregnated with a special infiltrant, which hermetically seals the damage to the tooth tissue and protects the tooth from external damage.

When is it worth treating with the “Icon” system?

The “Icon” system is effective when the damage has affected the enamel and has penetrated no deeper than the first layer of dentin. Such damage does not cause pain but, if left untreated, can eventually affect deeper tooth tissues. The “Icon” system helps prevent decay at an early stage. Teeth can be treated with the “Icon” system when:

  • White spots appear on the teeth, indicating enamel damage due to decay.
  • After eruption, teeth have white/yellowish spots, which indicates enamel weakening (less mineralization) due to dental fluorosis or other causes.
  • White spots can appear after orthodontic treatment due to enamel demineralization. The “Icon” system easily solves this problem.
  • Tooth discoloration occurs after dental trauma.

If the damage has penetrated deeper, micro-invasive treatment may not be enough, and the tooth may need to be drilled and filled. Therefore, it is essential to visit the dentist or dental hygienist regularly, as they can detect micro-damage to the enamel in time and prevent more significant problems and higher treatment costs.

What are the benefits of the “Icon” system?

Treatment with the “Icon” system prevents deeper enamel damage, keeping the tooth healthy.

The “Icon” system strengthens the damaged area and acts as a barrier protecting the tooth from acid exposure.

The “Icon” infiltrant is similar to healthy enamel, restoring the natural tooth surface and color during treatment.

The treatment is entirely painless, and the patient does not experience discomfort.

After removing spots, teeth look more aesthetic.

The “Icon” system can be used to treat patients of all ages, including children.

Bacterial plaque builds up significantly less on infiltrated teeth after treatment with this system.

The procedure lasts 30-60 minutes.

After treatment, no special or additional dental care or oral hygiene products are required.

What is Dental Prosthetics?

Dental prosthetics involve the restoration of teeth that have lost a significant amount of hard tissue, have poor aesthetics, or have experienced wear and tear. Prosthetics such as crowns, veneers, and other types of restorations are used to restore the appearance and function of the teeth. When a tooth is completely lost, it can be replaced using dental implants. For the restoration of a full arch of missing teeth, both removable and fixed dental prosthetics can be used. The goal of prosthetics is to restore both the aesthetic appearance and function of the teeth.

Starting from

420€

Types of Dental Prosthetics

Dental prosthetics are categorized into removable and fixed types. Fixed prosthetics are generally superior to removable ones. Unlike removable prosthetics, fixed prosthetics are indistinguishable from natural teeth, both to the observer and the patient. They provide an ideal aesthetic appearance and a comfortable feeling that removable prosthetics cannot match.

What are dental implants?

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root. During implantation, a small screw is inserted into the jawbone, replacing the missing natural tooth root. On the same day, a temporary crown or healing abutment may be attached to the implant. After 4-6 months, once the implant has integrated, a permanent zirconia ceramic crown is screwed onto it.

Implants not only restore the missing tooth root but also protect the jawbone from further resorption. Dental implants restore chewing function, allowing patients to continue enjoying their favorite foods.

Implants offer a way to restore missing teeth without grinding down or putting pressure on adjacent teeth. They can be used to replace individual teeth or an entire edentulous jaw.

Starting from

925€

The dental implant procedure consists of the following main stages:

Consultation and treatment planning

Implantation and temporary prosthetics

Permanent crown placement on implants

Nobel Biocare Implants

We only work with Nobel Biocare dental implants of the highest quality. Nobel Biocare Holding AG is a pioneer in dental implants and the world market leader in implant and cosmetic dentistry. The company has almost 50 years of experience in the field of implants. Today, more than one million people around the world are enjoying and successfully wearing their implants. Nobel Biocare offers a lifetime guarantee on its dental implants .

How are dental implants superior to removable dentures?

Implants restore chewing function, prevent further jawbone loss, and provide the feeling of natural teeth in the mouth. Unlike removable dentures, implants cause virtually no discomfort. Dentures need to be removed, require special care, and make chewing difficult. Dentures constantly remind the patient that they are not natural teeth, which can be psychologically uncomfortable. Even the most advanced dentures may not look like real teeth. In contrast, implanted teeth look and feel like healthy natural teeth, providing a comfortable chewing experience with maintenance similar to natural teeth.

Advantages of implants:

Long-lasting and effective solution

Restores chewing function

Reliable and comfortable option

Prevents functional and physical changes

Preserves other healthy teeth

Prosthetics on teeth

Prosthetics on teeth – is a dental procedure that restores lost or damaged tooth structures. This treatment is used for both aesthetic and functional restoration of the oral cavity.

Starting from

550€

Zirconia Crowns

Zirconia crowns are known for their excellent aesthetic results, mimicking the natural look of real teeth. The color of zirconia crowns is uniform and natural. Zirconia is a biologically compatible material, which means it does not cause allergies or other adverse reactions. These crowns are used when teeth are significantly damaged by decay, have minimal healthy structure left, or have large fillings.

Veneers

Veneers are thin ceramic plates, also known as micro-prosthetics, that are cemented to the surface of teeth. This procedure is similar to cosmetic fillings, but instead of using a filling material, the tooth surface is covered with ceramic. Veneers are applied when the patient seeks a more aesthetic appearance, such as when there are many old, discolored fillings, stained or yellow teeth, unattractive tooth shapes, or gaps between teeth. Veneers are durable, maintain their gloss, and do not change color over time.

Dental Bridges

When several teeth are missing, they can be replaced with dental bridges. In this method, adjacent supporting teeth are filed down, and a bridge is placed on top, filling in the gap left by the missing teeth. Bridges can also be anchored to implants if no natural teeth are available to provide support. This technique effectively restores the chewing function and appearance of the teeth while also preventing shifting of the remaining teeth.

Removable Dentures

Removable dentures are artificial teeth or sets of teeth used to restore dental function when one or more natural teeth are missing. These dentures can be taken out and reinserted by the patient, hence they are called “removable dentures.”

Although removable dentures are often more affordable compared to other prosthetic options, they may not provide long-term durability or comfort. Patients frequently feel that these are not their natural teeth, leading to discomfort when chewing and potential psychological distress. Additionally, removable dentures do not prevent jawbone deterioration and often do not restore full chewing function, requiring significant maintenance.

Starting from

420€

Main Types of Removable Dentures

Complete Dentures

Used when a patient has no natural teeth remaining. These are designed to restore an entire arch of teeth in the upper or lower jaw.

Partial Dentures

Used when a patient is missing only a few teeth. Partial dentures are attached to the remaining natural teeth and fill in the gaps where teeth are missing.

Removable Dentures

Standard Acrylic Plates

These are dentures made from solid acrylic plastic and used for both partial and complete denture applications. They can be easily removed and reinserted into the mouth, making them a popular and affordable choice. However, removable dentures do not prevent jawbone loss and may not provide optimal chewing function.

Advantages

Cost-Effectiveness

Acrylic plates are a more affordable option compared to other denture methods like ceramics or dental implants.

Aesthetics

Acrylic can be tinted to match the patient’s gum color, making the dentures appear more natural.

Maintenance

Acrylic dentures are relatively easy to care for.

Flexible Dentures

These dentures are made from a flexible and durable material, typically thermoplastic, which makes them more comfortable and adaptable to the mouth compared to traditional rigid acrylic dentures.

Key Features and Benefits

Flexibility

Flexible dentures adapt better to the mouth’s anatomy, providing greater comfort compared to rigid acrylic dentures.

Aesthetics

The material can be matched to the patient’s gum color, often making these dentures look more natural.

Comfort

The flexibility ensures less pressure on the gums and other oral tissues.

Attachment

Due to their flexibility, these dentures are often fitted without metal clasps, which can be visible and uncomfortable.

Framework Dentures

This method is typically chosen when a patient is missing one or several teeth. Framework dentures are more quickly adapted to by patients and provide a more secure fit compared to soft and standard plates. These dentures are attached with clasps or locks to the patient’s remaining natural teeth, using them as support to provide stability and reliability.

Advantages

Stability

The framework design and attachment to natural teeth make these dentures more stable than traditional acrylic plate dentures.

Comfort

Because the denture rests on several natural teeth, it fits more securely and is less likely to shift or become dislodged.

Long-Term Durability

The metal framework is durable and long-lasting, making these dentures more resilient than some other types.

Restoration of Chewing Function

The denture helps restore natural chewing function by being anchored to natural teeth, which assist in distributing chewing forces.

Veneers are applied when the patient seeks a more aesthetic appearance, such as when there are many old, discolored fillings, stained or yellow teeth, unattractive tooth shapes, or gaps between teeth. Veneers are durable, maintain their gloss, and do not change color over time.

Starting from

690€

Advantages of Dental Veneers

Natural appearance

After the procedure, teeth look very natural because the ceramic used to create veneers mimics the appearance, gloss, and color of natural teeth.

Long-Term Durability

Dental veneers are highly durable and resistant to staining. With proper care, they can last 10–15 years or even longer, making them a long-term investment in dental aesthetics.

Minimally invasive

The veneer procedure is less invasive compared to other restoration methods, such as crowns. Only a small portion of the tooth enamel is removed to make room for the veneer, preserving more of the natural tooth structure.

Quick results

Veneers can quickly transform the aesthetic appearance of a smile. After 4-5 visits to the dentist, patients can enjoy a restored smile thanks to veneers.

Reduced tooth sensitivity

Patients usually experience less tooth sensitivity after getting veneers compared to other restoration techniques. This is because less enamel is removed during the preparation process compared to crown placement.

Quick recovery

Patients can quickly return to their normal routines after the procedure, as recovery time is minimal and discomfort is generally mild.

Steps of Dental Veneer Procedure

Consultation

X-ray and clinical evaluation, treatment plan. The dentist evaluates the condition of the teeth and creates a treatment plan. Preparatory treatments, such as root canal therapy, gum correction, or teeth whitening, may be necessary before veneer placement. Scanning and photographic documentation are performed.

Smile testing

The patient is fitted with a temporary smile using plastic or composite material based on the technician’s wax-up model. This helps the patient decide how many teeth to veneer and choose the desired tooth color. Photographs are taken for documentation. At the end of the visit, the mock-up is removed.

Tooth preparation

The tooth structure is minimally trimmed to prepare for the veneers, and impressions or scans are taken. Sedation is available if the patient prefers. Temporary veneers are made, allowing the patient to adjust to the shape, length, and color of the new teeth.

Fitting permanent veneers

Removal of temporary laminates and measurement of permanent ceramic laminates. If the patient is satisfied with the result, the veneers are cemented. If corrections are needed in the laboratory, new temporary veneers are made for the patient again.

Final placement

The permanent veneers are cemented onto the teeth.

Root Canal Treatment and Retreatment

Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic therapy, is performed when the inner part of the tooth (the pulp) is damaged or infected due to deep decay, trauma, or other causes. The pulp consists of nerves, blood vessels, and soft tissues, which can become inflamed or infected, leading to pain or an abscess. The goal of root canal treatment is to clean out the damaged or infected tissue from the root canals, disinfect them, and fill them with a special material to protect the tooth from further infection.

Starting from

150€

When is root canal treatment necessary?

Root canal treatment (endodontic therapy) is performed when the pulp – the network of nerves, blood vessels, and lymphatics inside the tooth – becomes damaged. The tooth’s canal becomes infected when microorganisms enter, which can occur for various reasons: untreated tooth decay, fractures, trauma, etc. Once bacteria penetrate the tooth’s soft tissues, they cause inflammation within the pulp chamber, a condition known as pulpitis. This leads to tooth pain and sensitivity. If untreated, the infection spreads as bacteria move through the root apex to surrounding tissues, causing a condition known as periodontitis. Delaying treatment can result in bone loss around the root apex and the formation of abscesses. Further neglect may lead to more severe complications.

What are the symptoms of a root canal infection?

Depending on the extent of pulp damage, the patient may experience various sensations, but the most important symptoms to look for include:

  • Sharp, spontaneous pain, especially at night. Often, it is difficult to localize which tooth is hurting, and the pain may radiate to the ear.
  • Tooth discoloration, gum swelling, or abscess formation.
  • Increased sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures.
  • The tooth may feel “raised” and become painful when chewing, with a constant aching sensation.

If the condition is chronic, symptoms may be mild or unnoticeable. In some cases, there are no symptoms at all, and the need for endodontic treatment can only be confirmed after an examination and X-rays.

What is root canal retreatment?

Retreatment involves performing the procedure again. It is usually necessary when the patient experiences pain, swelling, or if an abscess forms near the tooth, and an X-ray reveals unresolved inflammation around the root apex. Retreatment may also be required before fitting a dental prosthesis.

The aim of the treatment is to remove the old filling material, to instrument the root canals if possible, often to correct complications from previous treatments and to disinfect and seal the root canals.

Endodontic Whitening

Teeth that have undergone endodontic treatment, especially if not done properly, may change color, becoming grey, yellowish, or even black. Non-vital teeth are whitened from the inside by inserting a special material into the tooth canal. Teeth treated with endodontics and that have changed color tend to whiten more slowly. In the case of front teeth, such discoloration is particularly undesirable. Internal whitening can restore the tooth’s brightness. Before performing internal whitening, the quality of the canal fillings is assessed. A small portion of the filling is removed, and the area is isolated with a special material. The whitening agent is then placed inside the tooth crown and sealed with a temporary filling. This material remains in the tooth for about a week and is replaced as needed. Once the desired result is achieved, the tooth can be restored with a permanent filling.

Why is a fiberglass post often necessary after endodontic treatment?

A fiberglass post is a special reinforcement element used to strengthen a tooth that has become weak or brittle after root canal treatment. This post is placed into the cleaned root canal and provides a stable foundation for a crown or filling. The crown or filling restores the tooth’s shape, function, and aesthetics, while also protecting it from further damage, ensuring its durability.

What is anesthesia?

Anesthesia in dentistry is a procedure applied almost daily to ensure that the patient does not feel pain or discomfort during dental treatment. Anesthesia also allows the dentist to perform various procedures safely and effectively, ranging from simple fillings to complex surgical interventions. Some people experience psychological fear of dental treatment, and for such patients, we offer a reliable and easy solution – sedation or general anesthesia with intubation.

Starting from

380€

Local Anesthesia

Local anesthesia is the most commonly used in dentistry. It involves numbing a specific area of the mouth, typically by using drugs called anesthetics. The anesthetic blocks nerve signals in the targeted area, so the patient does not feel pain there but remains conscious and able to communicate with the dentist.

Sedation

Sedation is a safe, medicinally induced suppression of consciousness during the procedure, helping to overcome anxiety and fear. It is performed by a qualified anesthesiologist. Sedation can be used during any procedure if the patient has a fear of dentists, experiences strong nausea or gagging, has a low pain threshold, or very sensitive teeth. Sedation is also often applied in complex and lengthy dental procedures, such as full jaw restoration with implants.

General Anesthesia (Intubation)

Patients have the option to be fully sedated during the operation. General anesthesia is slightly less commonly used in dentistry than sedation. Intubation is applied in complex or long procedures, especially if the patient is a child or has special needs.

Under general anaesthesia, the patient is completely asleep and feels nothing during the procedure. It is carried out under the supervision of an experienced anaesthesia and intensive care nurse and an anaesthesiologist.

After the procedure, in the recovery room, the patient’s safety continues to be monitored by the same experienced anesthesia and intensive care team, ensuring comfort and well-being throughout the recovery process.

What are Radiological Examinations?

Radiological examinations in dentistry are an essential diagnostic tool that allows dentists to visualize structures that are not visible to the naked eye. They help in detecting and accurately diagnosing various problems related to teeth, jaws, and surrounding tissues. These examinations are also crucial for planning complex treatment procedures, such as implantation, orthodontic treatment, endodontic therapy, or surgical interventions.

Radiological exams assess the patient’s oral and dental condition, enabling the dentist to create an accurate treatment plan. At CLINIC | DPC, only digital radiographs are used, which display the image on a computer screen and reduce radiation exposure by up to 90% compared to older X-ray machines.

Starting from

9€

Benefits of Radiological Examinations

Accurate Diagnosis

These examinations allow the dentist to accurately diagnose issues like cavities, periodontitis, cysts, tumors, root infections, and more.

Early Detection

X-rays help identify problems early, even before the patient experiences symptoms.

Treatment Planning

Essential for planning procedures like implantation, orthodontics, surgical procedures, endodontics, and other complex treatments.

Types of Radiological Examinations Performed at CLINIC | DPC

Panoramic X-Rays

Radiological exams capture the entire oral cavity in one image, including the upper and lower jaw, all teeth, sinuses, and the temporomandibular joint. They are used to assess tooth alignment, identify cysts, tumors, eruption issues, jaw fractures, and other conditions.

A panoramic dental X-ray is an essential diagnostic tool that allows dentists to thoroughly evaluate the patient’s oral health, diagnose various pathologies, and precisely plan treatment. It is widely used due to its convenience, speed, and ability to capture a comprehensive image of the entire oral area in one frame.

Dental X-Rays

A dental X-ray is a radiological test designed to give a detailed view of teeth, gums, surrounding tissues, and jaws. These images help dentists diagnose a wide range of oral health problems that might not be visible during a routine examination.

Dental X-rays show the entire tooth, from the crown to the root tip, and the surrounding bone. This is particularly useful for diagnosing root canal infections, cysts, and assessing bone structure.

Computed Tomography (3D CT)

Dental Computed Tomography (CT) is an advanced radiological test that provides a three-dimensional (3D) view of the teeth, jaws, and surrounding tissues. This examination allows dentists to accurately diagnose and plan complex treatment procedures.

Unlike traditional two-dimensional (2D) X-rays, CT scans create a detailed 3D model. These highly detailed images make it possible to precisely assess tooth root structure, bone density, nerve pathways, and other important anatomical features.

When 3D CT Scans are Typically Used

  • Before dental implant placement.
  • Before orthodontic treatment.
  • Before surgical procedures.
  • Before root canal treatment
  • After dental trauma.
  • Before orthognathic surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • 01

What are Zirconia Ceramic Dental Implants?

Zirconia ceramic implants, made from metal-free zirconia, are the best choice for people with allergies. These implants are known for their excellent biological compatibility with the human body, allowing them to integrate easily. They are immunologically safe, causing no allergic or other negative reactions in the body. Since the implants do not contain metals, they do not lose their properties over time and do not release harmful particles into the immune system.

Made from high-quality zirconia, ceramic implants are also highly durable. Studies have shown that soft tissues integrate very quickly with ceramic implants.

Starting from

1350€

Advantages of Zirconia Ceramic Dental Implants

Does not irritate the immune system and does not cause allergic reactions.

Maintain their properties over time and does not interact with oral care products.

Non-conductive to temperature, avoiding unpleasant sensations in the mouth.

Zirconia is a poor conductor, so it attracts fewer bacteria compared to metal implants.

Aesthetically pleasing as they closely resemble the color of natural teeth.

What is Immediate Implantation?

Immediate implantation was developed to minimize the time required for dental implant procedures. It is a minimally invasive procedure, often performed without incisions in the gums. This method results in a lighter postoperative period—avoiding or minimizing swelling, pain, and bleeding commonly associated with traditional implant procedures. This allows patients to quickly return to their normal routine.

This method is an excellent solution for individuals who have one or more damaged teeth or have experienced dental trauma. Immediately after the procedure, a temporary dental crown can be placed on the implant, so patients do not need to worry about an unattractive appearance. This is particularly important for those who lose a tooth in the front dental area.

Starting from

925€

Advantages of Immediate Implantation

Ideal for those who do not want to spend even a day with a gap in their mouth.

Allows for immediate enjoyment of a new, aesthetic smile.

Patients typically experience no pain, and the gums remain non-swollen and free of bleeding.

A temporary, aesthetic tooth is immediately fixed onto the implant.

After the procedure, patients can return to their usual activities—smiling, chewing, and resuming work—without restriction.

"Trefoil" System – What is it?

The “Trefoil” system is a dental implantation method designed for restoring teeth in the lower jaw. During the procedure, three implants are inserted into the lower jaw, and permanent teeth are usually attached to these implants the next working day. If both the upper and lower jaws need restoration, a combined treatment can be used, where the “Trefoil” system is applied for the lower jaw, and the “All-on-4®” or another method is used for the upper jaw.

This system allows for the restoration of lost teeth, returning bite strength, and enabling the patient to smile confidently and enjoy their favorite foods without discomfort in no time.

The “Trefoil” procedure is less extensive than the “All-on-4®” method, resulting in a shorter and smoother post-operative healing period. Additionally, it is a more financially attractive option for patients.

A more affordable alternative for full jaw restoration using implants.

The lower jaw can be restored in just one day.

“Trefoil implants provide a very strong and long-lasting fixation of the teeth on the implants.
